Dear Readers
Just to remind you that submissions need to be lodged BEFORE the 3 Sept 2021. There is no requirement that you should live in NSW to be eligible to do so. I am sure the views of overseas readers will carry a lot of weight if you stress how appalled you are by the lax standards in NSW and the new proposals will just drag those standards even lower! Please consider the different time zones if you are overseas.
Just email to animalwelfare.submissions@dpi.nsw.gov.au
Several readers have asked about Spotty, the solitary cat. Below is what Emma Hurst MP has been told by the RSPCA NSW. It is all the news I have, as I am no longer living next door to Camp Kitty.
"Inspectors have assessed the remaining cat on multiple occasions which has access to shelter, food and water and free access to roam in an enclosure of approximately 15 metres by 5 metres. Investigations have revealed the cat is being cared for by a person local to the area. I have personally contacted this person today who confirmed attendance to ensure wellbeing and provision of food and water.
The photo shows how the cats were living at Camp Kitty. This photo was supplied to me by a cleaner who was employed to tidy up the place, as best she could. It was taken in December 2016. They were disgusted by what was going on there, and none of them ever lasted long in that employment. It sickened them, it sickened me, and it still does sicken me, but it did not appear to have affected the RSPCA NSW. Always the same message when I complained to them `there are no welfare issues’.
All readers, please take action. Let’s not let those cats to have suffered in vain!
DO NOT LET THE HON MARSHALL DILUTE ANIMAL WELFARE PROTECTION ANY MORE.
Regards Keith
