Dear Readers

I am writing about another situation that has developed in NSW, once more showing the absolute disregard that authorities in NSW seem to have for animal rights. The following abstracts were copied and pasted from an article that has just surfaced on ABC Online News today. You will note the sentence at the end of this article `The Royal Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals has been contacted for comment’, a Society that receives much financial help from the Taxpayer yet appear not to be in the forefront of getting help for animals.

So many similarities to the situation I have experienced at Cowra with the suffering of many poor defenceless animals, and the only ones who seem to be taking any action are the concerned members of the public who fight for justice for these unfortunates!

An update to my regular petition posting will occur very soon. A lot is going on, suffice to say here that I have followed up on many of the suggestions by petitioners to use every means at my availability to get something to happen with regards to Spotty, the solitary cat at Camp Kitty.

Port of Newcastle's Stockton breakwall cat cull sparks fury after animals maimed

Animal rights activists are furious and an MP is calling for a cruelty probe after some cats living on Newcastle's Stockton breakwall were blinded and maimed in a failed cull attempt.

The Stray Cats Project took to social media on Friday after the discovery of trails of blood and injured cats along the breakwall.

"We had one cat extremely injured that was rushed to the vet," Rochelle Wood said in a post.

"Lily is hanging in there, she had been shot in the head.

"We had other cats with open wounds and grazes and all the cats were scared.

"We were unable to get close enough to catch them."

Ms Wood said members of the group returned to the site on Saturday morning.

"To discover another three injured cats, two with a broken leg and one, our little Rosey-girl, had been shot in the eye," she said.

"The authorities must step in and investigate possible breaches to our animal protection laws.

"It's unthinkable that the Port of Newcastle funded what appears to be a Rambo-style shooting operation on these colony cats."

Any further attempt to cull the cats has been postponed until January 17.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been contacted for comment.
