Here is a letter sent to The Directors of the RSPCA NSW. To date no response has been received. This letter is published with the aurthor's informed consent. Riley Cowra, NSW 2794 12 April 2014 Board of Directors RSPCA NSW: Dr Peter Wright- President Graham Hall – Vice President Doug Dean-Treasurer Stephen Coleman- CEO Paul O'Donnell Wendy Barrett Sarah Cruikshank Carol Youdan Andrew Givney Don Robinson Dear Directors, Re: My previous correspondence to the RSPCA Board of Directors On the 23 February 2015 I emailed a letter (copy of which is attached) to the Board of Directors regarding concerns about Camp Kitty, 230 Conimbla Road Cowra, NSW 2794. and the RSPCA's lack of interest/ action regarding the activities at Camp Kitty. To date I have not had a response from the Board of Directors. I am working on the premiss that (with the exception of Mr Coleman whom I spoke with on 26 February 2015) you may not have received my email. On 25 February 2015, I learnt that an employee of the RSPCA (Ms Monica Ojeda), deliberately withheld my letter from being distributed to the Board of Directors which leads me to conclude that her action is custom and practice at RSPCA NSW. Whether the Board is fully aware of this practice and the extent of the practice is, in my opinion, debatable. Certainly when I spoke with Mr Coleman about this matter, I got the impression that the practice is mooted. In any event the RSPCA's withholding and diversion of mail addressed to specific individuals without proper authority to do so would not pass any sniff test for good Administrative practise. This then raises the question: How well would the activities of RSPCA NSW withstand the rigours of public scrutiny? In relation to the inspection conducted at Camp Kitty at 4pm on Friday 20 March 2015 at which an RSPCA Inspector and RSPCA vet (among others) were present: Would you please tell me what exactly is inspected by the Inspector and the Vet during their inspection visits? A few days following the inspection of 20 March, the attached photographs which were taken of the skeletal remains of cats, (including a limb with fur still attached) were discovered lying under a structure in the rear cats enclosure at Camp Kitty. Why has the RSPCA failed to detect these expired animals on any of their previous visits and on the visit on 20 March? The RSPCA in other jurisdictions seem able to prosecute for infractions yet it appears that RSPCA NSW for their own ends, is prepared to ignore issues of a similar infraction. Is RSPCA NSW a 'grace and favour' operation? Whether remains are hidden in a field, as in the recent case of the skeletal remains of greyhounds, or under a structure in an enclosure as in the case of cats at Camp Kitty, the infractions needs to be dealt with irrespective of the organisation, industry and or the person concerned. The assertions that I have made in my previous correspondence still stands and those assertions and the queries in that correspondence warrant a response. I trust that the Directors of the Board of RSPCA NSW will afford me the courtesy of responding to my queries and to the matters that I have brought to their attention in an open, honest and timely manner.
