The Friends of Royton Linear Park and wider residents wish to petition Oldham Council and Andy Burnham Leader of Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

The Friends of Royton Linear Park and the wider community wish to petition Oldham Council on the decision to remove access gates along the park walkway for the following reason.

 1 NO consultation on the decision

If the gates are removed a greater risk is imposed to the general public who use the walkway (numbers which have grown since the local group have attended with regular litter picks and held meetings with the local council to improve the area)

 This will encourage more motorbikes and anti-social behaviour which is the reason the gates were originally installed. We fear the high risk of injury to the general public if this is allowed to happen.

Wildlife and plants are also at risk. Wildlife is returning due to the hard work and dedication of the group. 

 The monies have been requested from Greater Manchester Combined Authority under false facts and information
