ROTHER COUNCIL - STOP the £30 parking at Camber Central Car Park NOW to save businesses

The Issue

Rother District Council needs to stop the ‘trial’ of the £30 flat fee with immediate effect to protect the trade of Camber Sands.                                           Objective 1 of the trial states that the purpose is for the benefit of the taxpayer in order for the council to cover the costs of the beaches. The fact that the majority of cars are turning around out of the car park after finding out the £30 flat fee. The council are actually losing revenue from this scheme, thereby  rendering it useless to covering costs.
Objective 2 states the purpose to be in the interests of the village to reduce congestion. Again, this flat fee is deterring visitors to park in the central car park, causing congestion in and out of Old Lydd Road which is narrow within itself. During an extremely busy day, this will block residents’ way of entrance and exit, particularly those living down the road adjacent to the dunes bar.
Both objectives are contradictory and cause more harm than good. In fact,  this is proving harmful to residents and businesses alike, and these concerns have been voiced - the question is if RDC have the locals in mind then why are they continuously ignoring these complaints and concerns? Why are they ignoring residents and businesses who have had the worst summer this year due to the increased parking charge.
They are damaging businesses in their quest to collect money for their own coffers. The price is extortionate for families who just want to go to the seaside. This beach is the jewel in the crown of beaches and is used by people from far and wide across the country. If the new parking tariff has affected you, or caused you to avoid visiting Camber this year, please help by signing the petition.

It takes seconds to do and costs nothing.

Thank you.
