Gary Klopfenstein is our local appointed police chief.  It has been very apparent to members of our community that from the beginning of his appointment he has not represented the true morals and values of the majority of our honest and hardworking, 'blue collar' taxpayers.  I've heard numerous personal stories about interactions with the police chief that bordered on egregious behavior.  He appears to have misstated many facts regarding an internal incident with another police officer that's been talked about in many public forums on Facebook.  He continues to change his story on multiple issues depending on who he is speaking with or from news agency to news agency.  He has been called out online by many, many locals regarding his behavior, abuse of power, etc.  I have emailed him and his direct authority, Nikole Messenger, many times with essentially no response other than "we will look into it" which we know won't actually happen.  Another group recently attempted a similar mission with a TON of support, unfortunately due to concern for their members safety they dropped it.  Doesn't sound very transparent to me and if we are paying his, and his boss' salary, I don't believe its unreasonable to expect a certain level of accountability and Gary Klopfenstein has exhibited 'behavior unbecoming' of a police chief.  When his boss is approached with the information she has chosen to do nothing about it so I believe we need a new city manager as well.  Please join us as we hope to bring back accountability to the courthouse!
