Please don't turn ROR showing classes into a simple beauty pageant
The Issue
A considerable amount of people put significant time and effort into rehabilitaing and retraining these magnificent animals. The ROR series of competition is an excellent showcase of their hard work and enables like minded people to meet and share experiences. We feel that the emphasis on exracers being free from racing related injuries for the showing series is a backwards step. Mainly because those horses who have sustained injuries may be overlooked for the wrong reasons when viewed by a potential purchaser which may decrease their chances of finding the right home. We agree that confomational abnormalities should always be marked down and those aflictions related to such abnormalities are also undesirable; however, external injuries induced by over training, incorrect training etc actually increase the intrinsic value of these animals as it shows that they have successfully over come them.
These horses have already been rejected by the racing industry - please can we not reject them from this too? :-)
