Help Ban the “Carolina Squat”
The Issue
Help ban the “Carolina Squat” modifications.
If you are unaware of what that is, they are the flashy vehicles that are only lifted in the front and their rear “squatting” leaving their headlights pointed toward the sky instead of illuminating the road ahead of them. They are a distraction on the road and dangerous to operate as the driver cannot possibly have a clear view of what’s directly in front of them, which poses a severe threat to pedestrians in neighborhoods where there are no side walks. They are a danger to others on the road also as the “squatting” of the truck drastically changes the function and handling of the vehicle should an emergency situation arise.
The modification to the vehicle serves no purpose other than being “eye catching”. This trend is fairly new and originated in California but caught on in the Carolinas, spreading through Louisiana and Georgia. North Carolina has already passed a bill that will go in effect on 12/1/21 banning these types of modifications to vehicles. Please help Florida be the next. We already have plenty of distractions on our daily commutes, we do not need another.
