Why this petition matters

As a grandparent, you are always looking for the best interest and well-being of your grandchild.  This means taking them in and caring for them when the biological parent cannot or will not.  With this being said, grandparents in the State of Florida should have rights that protect them when they are put in this situation.  In the State of Florida, a grandparent can be used whenever a parent feels the need of taking a break from the child and come and take the child back without any problems.  Parents should be made to prove to the grandparent, as well as the courts that they are looking out for the best interest and well-being of the child.  When a grandparent is put in the position of caring for a child and the child is taken away without consideration of the child, the parent or parents should be held responsible in returning every penny that the grandparent has vested in the child during their stay.  Guidelines should be established on what is reasonable time with a grandparent and it should be court documented on when the child can be returned to a parent without emotional stress on the child.

Grandparents should have rights especially if they have cared for said child/children their entire lives! if the child is over the age of 10 they should have the right to talk to the judge and be a factor in deciding who they want to live with! come on people let's do better for our children and give them a fighting chance at a good life.
