The Issue

My father fought fiercely against the bureaucratic chains that restricted our right to sell our land. This was not just land—it was our lifeline, a means to address mounting financial pressures and cover essential health treatments. However, the Government of Andhra Pradesh back then, now the Government of Telangana, tied our hands with Government Order 22A. This policy overreach not only barred us from maneuvering our own property but ultimately cost us dearly: my father's life and later, my mother's, due to her inability to access urgent medical care because of prohibitive costs.

The sadness and frustration of my family's story is not unique. We have witnessed many families in Telangana trapped in an identical cycle of desperation. GO 22A, aimed at safeguarding public interest properties, inadvertently paralyzed many rightful landowners, obstructing their ability to sell, transfer, or gift their own property. This illegal and overly broad application of the rule contravenes their rightful autonomy and has caused irreversible damage to countless lives.

It's essential to recognize that personal properties should be under the jurisdiction of their owners. They should not be engulfed under a broad sweeping power that prevents them from making decisions in times of need. We are calling for the immediate rollback of GO 22A, allowing families like mine to relieve themselves of unnecessary restrictions, regain their autonomy, and preserve their integrity and livelihood through rightful utilization of their property.

I urge those with the power to change this to listen to our stories and understand the fair, rightful need for decisive action. Making this change would be more than just altering a policy: it would be about restoring hope, dignity, and justice to individuals who have lost so much due to this ill-conceived order.

Stand with us in this crucial fight for justice and fairness. Please, sign this petition to urge the Government of Telangana to roll back GO 22A and restore rightful property autonomy to the people.
