When most people on the planet are suffering due to the effects of a pandemic, losing jobs, having no viable source of income, and struggling to make ends meet, one extremely opportunistic council, has decided to punish its citizens even further, not content with charging non compliant vehicles £12.50 a day from next October, now this dreadful council are planning to charge car owners more when applying for resident permits - enforcing a higher charge on vehicles which are more  pollutant . All Euro 6 cars are already compliant to emission standards and are already subject to extra tax from the government. Yet this council will now penalise them even further. 

People in this borough can’t afford new or upgraded vehicles. Yet this opportunistic council and its mayor have brazenly failed to take into account the 2 major “A” roads that run through the borough and contribute the majority of emissions. How can a parked car be penalised for polluting, how is increasing the permit charge for parked cars relevant. This is nothing but greed by Newham council, we must make our voice heard, most people will be charged £12.50 for the ULEZ next October, and with the government considering an extension of the current congestion charge, car owners could be paying £27.50 per day . How many Newham residents are aware of this, we need to stand up for this. Innocent motorists are being made into easy targets by opportunistic and greedy councils. People and small businesses in the community will suffer, and some will be forced to close down due to all these excessive charges. Make your voice heard. 

Another resident has also started a petition in this respect- He has explained more in detail in respect to the consultation on this matter. And how it was rejected yet still going ahead despite that.

“Newham Council have rushed through a consultation against all of the Newham residents  even though their consultation shows more people are against their decision 63 people rejected the proposal and 19 people wanted it”.

“if this is the case then this purely  undemocratic and further proof that the council is trying to unfairly dictate  policies to its residents”. 

Please fight and forward this onto all residents of Newham. This will severely affect households as some will end up paying an additional £150 on a vehicle -on top of the permit which ranges depending on how many vehicles are in your household.
