Since Don Cherry has finally made his long overdue departure from Coach's Corner, it's time for Ron MacLean too have a new co-host.

Who could possibly be better than Jess Allen? Since her brilliant commentary (doubtless inspired by Adorno's Aphorism 123, The Bad Comrade) on hockey in the wake of Cherry's sacking, she has become a familiar face to hockey fans across Canada.

In many ways, she is the anti-Don Cherry. At a moment where many share her feelings about the game and is players, she is perfectly situated to transform discourse in hockey and provide sorely needed outsider insight.

Plus, she's funny and kinda quirky.
