Today, California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law landmark legislation that ensures that NFL cheerleaders in that state will be classified and paid as employees by their teams! This is a huge step forward in our fight to make sure that cheerleaders are properly protected and granted their rights by the NFL. This new law in California can and will serve as a message to other states and to the NFL that it is time that they treat professional cheerleaders as employees who deserve to be protected and compensated as such. We are now working to create a short documentary spot highlighting the issues with NFL cheerleaders to help spread the word and make sure that the NFL does the right thing by changing their policy.
