Create a South Eastern Sydney Council

The issue

The City of Botany Bay has always said we should remain independent. However, if we have no choice but to merge, we believe the merged local government area should combine suburbs with a shared history, community and culture.

That is why we support creating a south eastern Sydney council. This would include all or part of the following suburbs:

City of Botany Bay - Banksmeadow, Botany, Daceyville, Eastgardens, Eastlakes, Hillsdale, Mascot, Pagewood and Rosebery.

City of Randwick - Chifley, Kensington, Kingsford, La Perouse, Little Bay, Malabar, Maroubra, Matraville, Phillip Bay and South Coogee.

City of Sydney - Alexandria, Beaconsfield, Green Square, Rosebery, Waterloo and Zetland.

The State Government has agreed to a formal review of the City of Botany Bay proposal. Residents who live in these suburbs are encouraged to voice their support for this proposal.

This proposal has the added advantage of bringing Kingsford Smith Airport and Port Botany into a single local government area.

You can see the formal submission to the State Government on the Review website https://olg.councilboundaryreview.nsw.gov.au/proposals/city-of-botany-bay-city-of-sydney-marrickville-randwick-city-and-rockdale-city-councils/

You could also write a submission to the review. All that is required is a paragraph or two about why you think this merger should go ahead.
