Rocket Park

Rocket Park
The Issue
The Rocket Park is considered a park landmark to many residents. The city is looking into removing the Rocket Park and turning it into open space to be used for disc golf or open land. Instead of removing the Rocket Park we urge the city leaders to give it more of a modern transformation make over and preserve the park. Alot of us have many memories as kids playing at the Rocket Park. Each one of us has a story to tell about the park. Until this day I still go sit at the park and read a book or watch the sunset. We already have alot of open land in Pecos, why do we need more? I look back when Iived in Austin TX and I would hear stories such as "Why doesn't anyone do anything for Pecos, something for the kids, clean up the town, where is the money going, etc." Well after 15 years living in Austin I'm now back home and I'm no longer watching from the sidelines and voicing my opinion like most people. I'm ready to jump in the field and play ball, make a difference...question is who's with me? So I ask you to stand by me and let our city leaders know this is our park! Our city! We too have a voice, lot of us give up quickly and say " It is what it is, they don't want change" Well change has to start with you taking that step, even if its baby steps. I took a leap of faith when I moved back home. Alot of us get in our comfort zone and want to be the critic but I challenge you to take a stand with me and preserve our park. I leave you with one of my favorite quotes.
"20 years from now you will be disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the one's you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -Mark Twain
