Amid the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States, everyone is suffering to cope with the changes and actions that are being taken to contain this virus. That being said, we are pleading to Roanoke College, as a senior class, to either continue with OR postpone graduation until the end of May. Our college is small enough where we could still hold our commencement (even with special restrictions if needed). The senior class of 2020 have worked tirelessly for 4 years to see every special and important event being ripped away from them. This is affecting us in more ways that we can count. Students have earned the right to walk on the stage and earn their diploma that they spent so many hours (and $$$) to complete. We chose Roanoke College for the small school atmosphere and in class meetings that the school prides themselves on. We are seeing so many large universities already taking the steps to cancel or move their graduation to online, however, this does not fit the RC mold or values. Knowing this, we are begging to keep RC commencement OR move it 2-3 weeks back until the end of May. Roanoke College, have our back and please help us preserve some of the memories and events that we were promised/deserve for our senior year!
