RNCM: no place for genocide
RNCM: no place for genocide
The Issue
A member of staff at the Royal Northern College of Music has been consistently posting racist, zionist and violent content on their social media, unaddressed for two years by the RNCM. This comes within the context of Israel's ongoing genocide in Palestine, something which has been met with silence by the RNCM.
The RNCM has failed to act on this, despite being alerted to the harmful content still being posted. They claim to be politically neutral as an institution. However their inaction on this issue shows that their policy of 'neutrality' favours views aligned with a genocidal entity, over the safety and emotional wellbeing of their students.
We therefore demand:
- Immediate contract termination for the member of staff in question
- A formal apology from RNCM detailing the steps they will take to avoid this happening in the future
- An investigation into the culture at RNCM that normalises this racist and zionist rhetoric, without acknowledging its implications in light of the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
