Cancel/Revoke the 573 RMI passports that were issued to non Marshallese from 2015-2017.
The Issue
According to an audit report conducted by the Marshall Island's Office of the Auditor-General on the Passport Program for the Fiscal Years 2015 to 2017, 573 passports were issued to non Marshallese "... did not have a corresponding Cabinet minute or Court decree or other documentations confirming lawful citizenship". Furthermore 72 of the passports in question do not have supporting documents to prove if any form of payment was made to the Ministry of Finance or RMI Treasury. I believe these reasons alone is enough to cancel or revoke all 573 passports. Other reasons include:
1. Marshallese citizens, whether here or abroad, would not be afforded the same special treatment if their passport applications are incomplete or not fully paid.
2. this could potentially have a negative impact on the privilege's of the RMI passport, such as freely entering the United States and its Territories.
3. the US might fear that the RMI passport can used as a way for terrorists or unwanted immigrants, who would have or have been denied entry into the United States via the 573 non Marshallese passport holder's own country's immigration program, to enter their borders.
We do not want non Marshallese to buy their citizenship or passport, but rather they earn it by giving a substantial amount of their time and effort in progressing our country.
