Thank you for your ongoing support of this petition! We now have reached over 15,000 signatures, wow! Unfortunately the Government of Manitoba is trying to do everything they can to allow agriculture expansion in Manitoba. A recent article outlines the concerns of residents in Manitoba communities. https://www.brandonsun.com/local/proposed-changes-to-planning-act-questioned-478248263.html. In the article, Ruth Pryzner, a rural property owner said: "Those municipalities are overloaded already,". "If this bill passes, then those operations can expand. Where are they going to put the manure, and where are those nutrients going to go?" We are all concerned about the Government of Manitoba's intention to pass Bill 19 which would allow hog barn expansion without consultation and review. It's up to the citizens to take action now! Please write to Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler: minagr@leg.gov.mb.ca Please call Dr. David Neufeld, Director of Community Planning with the Department of Municipal Relations: (204) 228-1338 Please let these folks know that Bill 19 should not be passed and that it is not okay to abuse animals and threaten the environment and communities for the sake of profits. Thank you for your ongoing support of this petition and for all you do for animals!
