Many thanks to all who showed support! The petition was signed by over 500 individuals within days and delivered to District 90 leadership. Perhaps the real barometer of interest - it was viewed nearly 9,000 times in just one week! Ultimately, a petition was one great way to collect community voices and show support for our schools and a safe return to in-person instruction. Below is the specific plan affirmed by the board in a unanimous vote of confidence in the administration, teachers and staff of District 90 on 12/14/2020. The administration is seeking affirmation from the Board of Education for the following modification to the District 90 “Return to School” plan: 1. Transition from Full Remote Learning to Blended In-Person Learning: December 14 – 23, 2020 2. Winter Break for Students: December 24 – January 8, 2021 3. Winter Break for Staff: December 24 – January 6, 2021 (January 7 and 8: Remote Learning Planning Days) 4. Full Remote Learning: January 11 – 15, 2021 5. Anticipated Return to Blended In-Person Learning (assuming stable public health metrics): January 19, 2021 *** There remains an option for full remote learning for students who chose this mode of instruction. Further, the process for ownership in any future change of plans around modality of instruction was laid clear; the board has a chance to discuss publicly, then votes to affirm the recommendation by the Superintendent.
