Staff Our Station and Sustain our Services-Ripon Consolidated Fire
The Issue
Ripon Consolidated Fire District calls continue to climb annually. In 2011, the Fire Department had 1,488 calls. Last year, Ripon Fire Department responded to just under 2,000 calls at 1,853; that's 5 calls per day. Current funding is not enough to sustain ambulance costs at Fire Station 1 and/or open Ripon Fire Station #3. Two past bond measures to raise property taxes in 2007 and 2018 were unsuccessful and parcel assessment rates have not been raised in 35 years. We are asking the City of Ripon to place a 1% sales tax (does not include groceries) on the November 2020 ballot that will fund Ripon Consolidated Fire District. These funds, minus a 1% indirect administrative rate to support the City's dissemination, will all go to support Ripon Consolidated Fire District. Our Ripon Fire Department has consistently supported this community, we need to support them!
