Twisted Treeline is with us for a long time. It's a unique map, which gives us a journey to the Shadow Isles, an interesting and mythic place, according to the lore of the game.
It has a lot of exciting and individual items, monsters, (even has it's own epic monster, Vilemaw) and tactics. I can also mention the two altars on the map.

  • Wooglet's Witchcap, like Zhonya's Hourglass combined with Rabadon's Deathcap.
  • Moonflair Spellblade, if there are a lot of crowd control effects.
  • Lord Van Damm's Pillager, for the altar management.
  • Face of the Mountain.
  • Talisman of Ascension.
  • Frost Queen's Claim. These 3 support items were removed from the Summoner's Rift, but are available here.

So it is different enough, to be an other type of a great experience, but it is the same enough to be League of Legends.

After years playing this map, I easily figured out that the map has it's own playerbase as well, and it is also different from Summoner's Rifts' one.
Simply, Twisted Treeline players are not the same as Summoner's Rift players.

Deleting the map, will also delete this small community and make them stop playing the game.
The players who don't play it, won't care, of course, but those who play it, will.

It is the same for keeping the map.
The players who don't play it, won't care, but those who play it, will, and they will be happy to have their map, their way to play League of Legends.

We know that keeping up the servers is not free. But getting a part of the community to hate you for taking away their map (which had been there since years) and make them quit League, is a lot worse...

Twisted Treeline didn't get any attention. The last change on the map happened in patch 5.11.
You should not remove the map, when there are a lot of things you could change to improve it.

  • Starting with the jungle. You can tell it is outdated. Along with the Vilemaw fight. You can too easily take it down, if you dodge a couple of it's attacks. You could make the pit larger and place Vilemaw to a safer place, a little bit more far from the lane, but improving the fight as well.
  • The altars. They haven't got a really strong buff to fight for, especially in the late game. Of course, the 80 gold for each altar can help, but the gold it gives could scale along with the time, it would be more useful in late game, because now the 80 gold is the most useful in the early game. And modifying the buffs would be also efficient.
  • Turrets. It is too easy to take them down, especially the outter turrets. Maybe a little health could help them. It would be great to have turret platings on the outter ones as well! Maybe you don't even need 5, just only 4 for example.
    I didn't even mention that the nexus turret, that should have a 2.5 attack speed, is attacking with a very slow rate. In earlier phases, it has 2.08 attack speed. But only looking it, you can easily tell that it's obviously not attacking with that rate. This bug has been here since years.

You don't have to remove it, you didn't even tried to change it!
You can try and give this map some attention, with changes and maybe with events and quests, themed for the Shadow Isles, for example.
