Rio Arriba County and the City of Espanola seek to open an in-patient/out-patient drug treatment facility for addicts from the local community and from out of state. This is a needed service for the community BUT the problem is the proposed location which is right next to Eutemio Tim Salazar (Fairview) elementary school and in a residential neighborhood. 

The facility (former Hacienda de Salud nursing home) would serve up to 170 addicts, both court ordered and voluntary.  Security and environment at the elementary school and residential neighborhood are paramount. 

We request that the city and county find a different location for a drug treatment facility that would not endanger the children and residents of the community.
