Ring of Fame for Chief Zee
The Issue
If you have ever been to a Washington Redskins football game, I am sure you have seen the charismatic and super-fan Zema "Chief Zee" Williams! Mr. Williams first showed up to a Redskins game dressed in his costume in 1978 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was attacked after the game which left him hospitalized. That slight bump in the road did not deter this great fan and he held the line in his determination for showing his appreciation and dedication to his beloved Washington Redskins. Ever since this day, Mr. Williams continued the tradition of showing up to home games, even traveling to division rival away games in costume, for the love of our great Burgundy and Gold.
We all have a story to tell about Chief Zee. This is what makes the man so great! From the hundreds of thousands of fans that have crossed this man’s path, he was never too busy to say no for a photograph or stop for a handshake. He always greeted a fellow fan or complete stranger with that warm, huge smile. I never had the chance to shake Mr. Williams hand or take a picture with him because I was always too awe struck by him. I could never understand why a fan could dedicate his life to a team and pour so much love into it…until I had children of my own and I completely understood the love he had for the Washington Redskins. Even though he had children and grandchildren of his own, he loved this team just the same!
Chief Zee was no ordinary fan, Chief Zee was our family. What does the great sports city of Washington, DC do with family? We stay together, we remember, we never forget our family! On the day of his funeral, I want to make a push to have this one of a kind super-fan inducted into our treasured Ring of Fame at FedEx Field. With roughly 38 years of dedicated service to this team, Mr. Williams needs to be at home with the rest of our greats this team has given us over the years. You do not need to be a star on the field to be enshrined on the Ring of Fame, you need to make a lasting impression which Chief Zee did day in and day out in his seats and out for our great Washington Redskins.
Please join me in signing this petition and sending it to all of our loyal fan-base across this great nation!
Thank you very much for help! We love you Chief Zee. Hail!
