Right To Buy your housing association home

Right To Buy your housing association home
The Issue
After 30 years of right to buy in Scotland, housing associations welcome the end to it mid 2016.
In Scotland, if you are living in a housing association you can't buy your home. The Right To Buy provides tenants with something to show for years of paying rent, which is only entitled to those living in council homes. When it comes to owning your home, it can if necessary be sold to pay for care later in life, it also gives us less dependency on the state. Unlike a council tenancy, a home that has been bought can also be handed down to your children and through generations. Why aren't we entitled on the Right to Buy, are we not equal?
I find it disappointing is this right was taken away in Scotland, however, in England the Right to Buy scheme was extended to housing association tenants, with government pledging to build a new social home for every one sold. Now, of course, the reason Scotland hasn't approved of this is because much social housing was sold, and the local councils did NOT reinvest this money in new housing assets. The issue here is - the people are being punished for the work of negligent officials.
Is this not our human right? Aren't we deserving enough to own our homes?
If the right to buy was introduced to housing association tenants, it could provide hundreds of thousands of poorer households with the financial security that goes with owning your own home. Owning your own home is no longer the preserve of the middle and upper classes. We are being tricked, paying rent upon rent for years for a house that is still considered on the market, that being if we don't pay the next upcoming bill. Why is our money going to waste? Why do we not have the option to apply for a mortgage and own the place we call home?
What do we want? We want to own our homes! Give us the Right To Buy, not just for council homes but for housing associations too.
If you agree with me, please sign this petition, and let the voices of the unheard be heard!
