RIGHT MAKES MIGHT: A Declaration of Moral Power

The Issue

We affirm that Right precedes Might.

As citizens of humanity, we choose Right Action—especially when human rights are threatened, eroded, or openly violated. We reject the doctrine that might determines truth, legitimacy, or worth.

We bind ourselves to a moral code grounded in the inherent dignity of every human being, without exception. Human rights do not originate in governments or institutions; they arise from our shared humanity and must be defended by it.

We stand against the normalization of cruelty, the weaponization of fear, and the misuse of authority. We stand for justice, truth, accountability, and the protection of those most vulnerable to abuse of power.

We affirm that moral power—expressed through conscience, courage, and collective action—is the only power capable of sustaining human dignity and shaping a just future.

Right makes Might.

The Pledge

By signing this declaration, I pledge to:

  • Act in accordance with conscience, even when doing so carries personal cost
  • Refuse silence, compliance, or benefit in the face of injustice
  • Defend the dignity and rights of all people, without exception
  • Speak truth, practice care, and choose courage over convenience
  • Align my daily actions with the world I wish to help bring into being

I understand that this pledge is not symbolic. I sign this as my promise.
It is a living commitment—renewed through action.

This pledge was stewarded and shared by Global Citizens Circle—a community now in its 52nd year.  We are committed to dialogue, conscience, and the dignity of all people. It is offered in the spirit of moral clarity, collective responsibility, and the belief that what is right must guide what is powerful. www.globalcitizenscircle.org.
