Help save a loving family dog from euthinization !
The Issue
We are fighting to save the life of Novie. Novie is a 6 year old, loving family dog. He is a Husky, Alaskan Malamute and low content wolf hybrid. He has no history of vicious or aggressive behavior as the city is trying to claim. The city has said point blank they no longer want wolf dogs in their community and will do what they need to in order to rid the city of them. We believe Novie is being used as an example to put fear into the community to get rid of their dogs if they have any wolf content. Over a month ago Novie and his companion dog escaped from home while family was out of town for the day. After an incident where his companion bit a neighbors dog while playing with it, no serious injury occurred and the owner is not pressing any charges, the police were called. When 8 officers and animal control arrived, Novie and his companion were sitting in their front yard. With all the commotion and people coming at them, Novie was in fear and trying to protect his home and lifelong companion. At this time a old family friend , Novie did not know well, ran up and tried to grab the dogs and he bit her. A small bite, just enough to say, stay away! Again, no serious injury and no charges being pressed by the neighbor. Any dog crowded by strangers and backed into a corner on his property will go into defense mode out of fear. That's all Novie did. What any dog would do. And maybe a lot less than what some dogs would do. He had also been shot with tranquilizer guns several times. Due to this incident the female companion was euthanized almost immediately and Novie taken to a dirty, old, understaffed, small shelter. He has lost most of his weight, and has not been allowed out of his 4x8 cement cage once in over a month! He is sprayed daily with a very high powered hose to clean off his urine and feces since they will not allow him out. They will not even allow the owner to take him out. Novie has health issues also not being addressed by the shelter. The owner goes to the shelter daily and speaks to him from outside through the shelter wall, because they will not let her in to see him. Novie usually is very verbal barking, yelping and howling out of excitement when he hears his owners voice, but this past week, he is barley whimpering to her. We are very worried Novie might not even make it till Wednesday when the Board decides whether or not to kill him. This is animal abuse and neglect pure and simple!! This is a sweet, precious, dog who takes turns sleeping with the family children in their beds every night and he is being treated and portrayed as a vicious animal! Please help us convince the city that Novie deserves another chance! For them to release him either back to his family or to one of the wolf experts who have offered to adopt him out of the community. PLEASE HELP US SAVE NOVIE! WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME. You can see Novie at https://youtu.be/jYR0-i9j55I
We thank you, but more than anything, Novie thanks you!!
