Dedicated Community Space for Iranian Children and Youth
From: Parents and caregivers of the Iranian community in Richmond Hill and the surrounding area
We, the undersigned parents and caregivers from the Iranian community, respectfully ask the City of Richmond Hill and the Government of Ontario to work with our community to secure a dedicated, safe, accessible and affordable venue in Richmond Hill where the activities of ICTC Youth Foundation for Iranian children and youth can continue.
Why this support matters
Many Iranian families are carrying a double weight: economic fallout is placing added pressure on household finances, while the conflict is taking an emotional toll on parents and children who have loved ones caught in it. This worry and uncertainty can affect family well-being and children's sense of security, even from far away.
In these circumstances, reliable access to constructive community activities is not a luxury. It provides stability, connection, belonging and opportunities for healthy development. ICTC Youth Foundation seeks to continue activities that allow Iranian children and youth to learn, participate in recreation, build friendships, strengthen cultural connections and feel supported. Without a reliable venue, these programs are difficult to plan, sustain and make accessible to the families who need them.
What we respectfully request
- Identify or designate a suitable venue in Richmond Hill, or provide consistent access to municipal space, at an affordable or subsidized cost.
- Meet with Iranian parents and ICTC Youth Foundation representatives to understand scheduling, capacity, accessibility and youth safety needs.
- Coordinate municipal and provincial support, including eligible grants, partnerships and community programming resources.
- Help establish a practical, long-term arrangement so ICTC Youth Foundation's activities can continue consistently for children and youth.
We respectfully request a meeting with representatives of the City and the Ministry to discuss a workable path forward. By signing this petition, we express our shared support for this request and ask for timely consideration and a written response.
