Hythe Boaters started this petition to Richard Walker - Parking Partnership Group Manager and

The North Essex Parking Partnership is set to introduce double yellow lines along the majority of King Edward Quay, Colchester. One of the last free access Quays.

The Hythe Boaters community group (which moors on the Quay), are concerned as they would only be allowed one permit per mooring. Unlike the rest of Colchester, which is given 2 parking permits and the availability of visitors parking permits. If people with families or friends want to visit, they will need to park elsewhere, quite a distance from the Quay, as will visitors coming to see the birds on the River Colne, people having their sandwiches in their lunch hour and people walking their dogs.

Residents are also worried how the move will affect groups like Colchester Sea Cadets, which is based at the TS Colne Lightship in the dock and the monthly meetings with the Roman Roadsters and their classic cars, which bring a great crowd and atmosphere to the Quay. Along with future ideas for the Quay.
