Every year tens of millions of sharks are killed for their fins. The fisherman catch these sharks, cut off their fins, and throw their bodies back into the ocean. The sharks are left to drown, bleed out, or get eaten alive by another animal. It is a brutal act that is inhumane and unsustainable. 

Shark Fin Soup is considered a Chinese delicacy and has become popular because people believe that it will protect them against disease. There has been no scientific-based facts that support this claim, and it is an unnecessary dish. 

Do to our large supply of shark fins and the popularity of this market, these beautiful creatures are now endangered. The Humane Society of the USA, Oceana, and various other animal rights groups have sought to ban this gruesome practice. Future generations will not have the opportunity to witness these beautiful creatures, all because of our ignorance. Sharks are vital to maintain the balance of our ocean life, and with their extinction comes numerous chain reactions that will lead to a widespread devastation.
