As a senior at Conestoga High School I and many other seniors would like the opportunity to graduate and receive their diplomas in maroon or white graduation gowns. The gowns were recently changed which has upset/ angered many people in the Conestoga community. Many students at Conestoga have had siblings and/or parents graduate from Conestoga wearing maroon or white gowns and would like to reinstate that tradition. Traditionally girls would wear white and boys would wear maroon, now it should be a choice to wear maroon or white. The administration’s unilateral decision to change a decades long tradition has fallen short of its good intentions. The below signed by the Conestoga students and community members respectfully request Tredyffrin Easttown School District re-evaluate its decision and restore a former decades long tradition.
