Attention:

It is with great consideration during this time of unified crisis that I present the idea of making a temporary change to the bi-laws created around alcohol purchasing and selling in the state of North Carolina.

The decisions that have been made to keep the safety and health of the wonderful residents of North Carolina a number one priority are justified and understandable, but they have other consequences that were perhaps not top of mind at the time of immediate planning and decision making.

The great restaurants, bars and private clubs throughout the state are seeing an economic downturn of unimaginable proportions, many of which they may never come back from.  It is beyond a recession, and it's time for the great leaders of this state to step in and collaborate with the North Carolina ABC Commision.

We are proposing a temporary by-law be passed, which provides for the sale of "take-home" or "to-go" spirituous beverages, whether it be pre-made or sold as a take-home kit. We are asking you to allow bars with premixing licenses have the means and can continue to practice the safe distribution of premixed beverages for curbside or togo pickups. We also have the means to provide a product that is safe and sticks to the guidelines of our current premixing laws. (by bottling and cryovac sealing the pre filled bottle you create and added layer of protection)

While I realize the risks and potential dangers of selling alcohol "to go", these beverages can be sealed similar in fashion to how alcohol is purchased currently from an ABC store, adhering to the open container laws within the state.

Lastly, the sheer potential of a positive impact that this could have on not only keeping the businesses throughout North Carolina thriving and open post-crisis, but to the residents as well, would be profound and undeniable.

I ask that you please review our current policies, open your heart and hand for this proposal, and try as best you can to help establish a creative approach to helping save our businesses and serve our communities as soon as feasibly possible.

I have also attached a link to an instagram story highlight that shows how this is being done in other parts of the world suffering from this pandemic currently. Please help us help and industry that provides so much for the communities we are part of.
