The Trump Department of Justice has subpoenaed Rhode Island Hospital, demanding the names, Social Security numbers, home addresses, and dates of birth of every transgender minor patient treated there over the past five years. These are children. Their medical records are protected by law — and their safety depends on them staying private.

A federal judge has already ruled in the hospital's favor, finding the DOJ "unworthy of trust." But the fight isn't over. The administration can appeal, refile, or pressure the hospital through other means.

We are calling on Rhode Island Hospital and its parent system, Lifespan Health, to stand firm: do not voluntarily share a single record. Do not cooperate with any effort to identify, locate, or expose transgender minors and their families to a government that has made them a political target.

Patients come to you for care — not to be handed to federal investigators. Protect them.
