The Rhinebeck Town Board has proposed limiting the right of home owners in the town to rent their homes out for short terms stays (less then 30 days). While the details have yet to be announced, my understanding is that the proposal would limit eligible STR’s to one’s primary domicile, and only when the home owner is on the premises. On the premises meaning the home owner stays in the main house while renting an accessory property on the same lot, or the rented space is an in-law suite within the home where the owner is staying. This would eliminate THE MAJORITY of STR’s. 
Now more than ever, many homeowners in our community depend on the extra income they make from sharing their homes. In addition, our local businesses and restaurants who are struggling to keep their doors open during this pandemic benefit immensely from tourists visiting the area. 
Please sign this petition to let the town board know that we are against the strict ban they have proposed and want the right to responsibly share OUR HOMES with whomever we choose.
