The Issue

The measles outbreak in Texas is growing. But instead of laser focus on getting families to vaccinate children, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. continues to spread dangerous misinformation.

Most recently: RFK Jr's posts on X where he praises inhaled steroids like aerosolized budesonide and antibiotics such as clarithromycin as effective treatments.

Two children and an adult in New Mexico died in early March. Overall, there have been 657 measles cases so far this year, the highest total since 2019, according to NBC News.

RFK Jr's claims have ZERO scientific backing and contradict established medical guidelines.

Medical experts raise alarms that such misinformation can lead to public confusion, reduced vaccination rates, and increased susceptibility to measles outbreaks. RFK Jr: needs to focus on protecting health - not doubting medical research.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) emphasize that the MMR vaccine is the most effective method to prevent measles, with a 97% efficacy rate when two doses are administered.

We call on Secretary Kennedy to immediately remove all public statements and social media posts promoting unproven measles treatments - specifically:  the steroid budesonide and the antibiotic clarithromycin.

Reinforce the importance and safety of the MMR vaccine as the primary means of measles prevention!
