Kensington & Epsom Road, are vibrant residential areas in Kensington. Trucks in our area have become a safety concern for many residents. The installation of no truck zones in surrounding suburbs has unfortunately diverted heavy truck traffic through what is primarily a residential area. This increase in truck traffic poses safety risks to the community, especially around sensitive areas such as schools, daycare centres, churches, and recreation centres.

As a parent and community member, it's heartbreaking to see little children and families navigating their way around speeding trucks. The constant thrum of heavy vehicles reverberating through the neighbourhood is both jarring and dangerous. The safety and well-being of our children are paramount, and seeing them compromised is distressing to all who live and work here.

Studies show that trucks, by nature of their size and speed, take longer to stop and maneuver, making them particularly hazardous in areas where there is frequent foot traffic or children at play. 

Re-zoning Kensington Road between Epsom and Hobson Rd as a No Truck Zone is not only sensible; it’s necessary. By taking this action, we can redirect truck traffic to more suitable roads, such as the $10 billion West Gate Tunel, designed to handle such vehicles, thereby preserving the safety and tranquility of our neighbourhood.

Let's stand together for the safety of our children and our community by urging local authorities to take immediate action to zone Kensington Road as a No Truck Zone.
