REWORK GUEST PARKING FEES (The Courts of Huntington Station)

REWORK GUEST PARKING FEES (The Courts of Huntington Station)
The Issue
We, the residents and guests of The Courts of Huntington Station, are calling for an immediate and fair revision of the current guest parking fee system. The new flat rate of $15 for any guest parking period under 24 hours is a drastic and unreasonable increase from the previous structure, which was based on actual usage and allowed for flexibility. Charging the same amount for a short visit as for an overnight stay places an unnecessary burden on residents and discourages guests.
This policy especially impacts short visits, where guests may be charged $15 for as little as 10 minutes of parking. That is excessive and out of proportion, and it takes away from the sense of community by making it harder for residents to host visitors without added cost and frustration.
The towing policy makes the situation even worse. On top of the $15 fee, if payment is missed, even briefly, vehicles can be towed and face a $250 retrieval fee, along with lost time and added stress. These are the kind of consequences one would expect for illegal parking in a city, not for residents and their guests who live here and are simply trying to park responsibly. We, as residents, along with our guests, are what make this community what it is, and policies like this only work against the sense of community we are trying to build and maintain. There needs to be accountability and acknowledgment of these concerns.
We are asking for a return to a more reasonable system or the introduction of fair alternatives, such as short term guest passes, a simple approval process through the office, or at least one complimentary 24 hour guest pass per apartment. Residents are already paying significant rent, and it is not unreasonable to expect a basic level of accommodation. The current system feels excessive and exploitative, and we urge management to reconsider and implement a more balanced and fair approach.
