Revoke the Proposed Boundary Changes Rural Point Elementary School

The Issue

I am proud to be part of the deeply rooted community at Rural Point Elementary School. This isn’t just a school—it’s a place where I grew up, where my siblings formed lifelong friendships, and where my children began their educational journey. Even today, my parents continue to live within the school’s zone, solidifying our generational ties to this cherished community.

However, proposed changes now threaten to disrupt these strong connections. The Hanover County School Board is set to review adjustments suggested by MGT, a third-party vendor overseeing the boundary changes, which will impact our school’s future.

The proposed Blue, Green, and Purple boundary scenarios are not merely minor adjustments; they represent a significant upheaval for 119 to 177 students currently attending Rural Point. These changes would uproot students from the familiar, stable environments they've grown accustomed to and fracture the valuable relationships and communities that have been built over the years. In the Studley area, all three scenarios have our children moving to PGES. There are no options for us.

By signing this petition, we ask the Board to recognize the lasting, negative impact these changes could have on our students, teachers, families, and educational continuity—the core of a thriving school community. Specifically, we request that the Studley Road area, including Williamsville Road to Summer Hill Road and the neighborhoods of Summer Plains and The Colonies, remain within the Rural Point zone. This area has long been part of our school community, and neighboring families on the other side of the road will not be affected by these proposed changes.

For the sake of our children's education and the future of our community, we urge the School Board to reconsider these proposed boundary changes.

Let’s protect the connections and traditions that make our community unique and special. Please, join us in standing up for the school that holds such an important place in our lives. Sign this petition today.
