The Issue

Mark Nelson has been told that he is under direct threat of being deported to Jamaica, his country of origin, despite having lived and worked in the UK since 2000 and having five British-born children and a British partner.

Nelson, who works as a car mechanic here in England and has since 2000, was threatened with deportation back in 2022. This was later revoked but when reporting to a home office center in July of 2026, he was immediately arrested, detained, and the process of deportation had started.

Nelson has no family or friends in Jamaica- no home to go back to, no community or support networks. His only links, his great grandparents, died when Nelson was 16.

He is currently in a detention center, akin to a prison, separated from his wife, children, and mechanic business. He has told the Guardian newspaper that his mental health is suffering immensely due to his detainment.

This petition is attempting to revoke the decision to deport him back to Jamaica. Mark Nelson deserves to be close with his family, community, and the business that he runs, contributing to the British economy.
