I am an individual who cherishes my constitutional rights, particularly the one ensured by the Second Amendment. I believe in remaining a law-abiding gun owner, as it fosters discipline, protection, and liberty in the right sense. However, I feel that the underpinning of my rights is severely challenged by Oregon politicians with the implementation of Measure 114.

Passed in November 2020, Measure 114 in Oregon aims at curtailing state criminal penalties for possession of drugs and several gun-control provisions which I believe, erode the foundations of the Second Amendment rights. The Skeptic Review even reported, by conforming to this measure, law-abiding citizens like me, who legitimately own guns, could face unwarranted persecution and restriction.

In a nation that was founded upon principles including individual rights and freedom, I believe it's our duty to stand against policies that we perceive to be against those fundamental rights. Respect for citizens' rights and freedom should be at the forefront of policy making, not on the back burner.
