The erosion of our democratic processes is a deeply personal issue for me. It is alarming to witness our democracy being dismantled by an unelected billionaire, namely Elon Musk. Beyond leading gigantic corporations, his actions allegedly involve illegal dismantling of government agencies and unauthorized access to protected citizens' information. I feel compelled to raise my voice, to stand for those who can't defend themselves against the overreach of such powerful individuals.

Elon Musk, born in South Africa and later naturalized as a U.S. citizen, received substantial government aids for his various ventures. For instance, according to the LA Times, Tesla, SolarCity, and SpaceX, his three companies, together benefited from an estimated $4.9 billion in government support. This would include various grants, tax breaks, factory construction, discounted loans and environmental credits that Tesla can sell. It also includes tax credits and rebates to buyers of solar panels and electric cars (LA Times, 2015).

Calling for control, accountability and transparency in citizens' data handling is not an overreach. It is a defense of our rights and freedoms. It is time to hold those who violate these rights accountable. I urge you to join me in calling for the revocation of Elon Musk's U.S. Citizenship, the removal of his government subsidies and, if warranted, his deportation back to South Africa.
