Our society is meant to be a safe haven for all individuals, regardless of their identity or affiliation. New Zealand's LGBTQ community, consisting of our beloved children, siblings, parents, and friends, have always held the right to exist peacefully within our society and occupy public spaces without fear of threat or aggression. This peace was brutally shattered on February 15 when Destiny "Church", an organization labeled as a church or religious group, bore an unprovoked aggressive and violent stance stance at the Community Centre. Hiding behind the guise of religion, this group has shown itself to be a threat rather than a charitable institution.

The non-profit "real church" sector fosters a culture of generosity, kindness, and respect for all. Organizations within this community are expected to uphold these values, and work diligently towards benefitting society, not causing harm. Destiny "Church" has proven that it doesn't fit into this description.

It is crucial, more than ever, that we reconsider Destiny "Church's" status as a charity. The psychological and physical safety of our children, brothers, sisters and parents is at risk if we continue to fund an organization that advocates violence and hatred. Let's stop the financial support to this group by revoking their charitable status, sending a strong message against hostility and intolerance.

This is not about meddling with freedom of religion or belief, but about maintaining social harmony and protecting the rights of our citizens. Because a place that uses the shield of religion to promote violence is not a church. The necessary change starts with us. Stand with us and sign this petition today. It's time to stop the nonsense. It's time Destiny "Church" stops cloaking its hostile actions under the cover of charity.
