Revoke Claressa Shields Promoter license

Revoke Claressa Shields Promoter license
The Issue
We, the undersigned, respectfully demand an immediate review of Claressa Shields’ fitness to hold a promoter’s license based on conduct that has generated serious public concern and has reflected negatively on the professionalism, judgment, and standards expected of individuals who help organize, represent, and promote combat sports events.
A promoter holds a position of influence and responsibility within boxing. That role requires professionalism, restraint, sound judgment, and conduct that protects the integrity of the sport rather than adding to controversy surrounding it.
Recent public reporting has linked Claressa Shields to conduct concerns outside the ring, including reports that she was banned from future Most Valuable Promotions events following a physical altercation with Alycia Baumgardner. Public reporting also shows that while her 2025 Michigan suspension was dissolved, that development did not automatically erase the broader enforcement concerns that had been raised.[espn +3]
For those reasons, we ask the appropriate authority to:
• Review whether Claressa Shields currently holds, has applied for, or intends to seek a promoter’s license.
• Investigate whether her recent conduct meets the standards required of a licensed promoter.
• Suspend, deny, or revoke any promoter’s license if the commission finds that her conduct is inconsistent with the responsibilities of that role.
• Publicly affirm that promoters, like fighters, must meet standards of professionalism, safety, and integrity.
The issue is not fame, titles, or marketability. The issue is whether someone entrusted with the power to promote, influence, and represent the sport has demonstrated the judgment and professionalism necessary to hold that license.
