The Issue

Our children, who are already overwhelmed with the challenging new Advanced Maths and Science courses, are now facing additional pressure due to the recent changes in the language policy for CBSE Class 9. Despite the academic year being well underway, the textbooks for these new subjects have not yet been provided to the students. This lack of resources is already problematic, yet now, on top of this, CBSE is imposing a requirement that students learn Sanskrit from the beginning.

For many of these students, French has been a consistent part of their curriculum since Class 5. They have invested time and effort into learning and mastering this language. Now, CBSE's sudden decision to mandate a switch to Sanskrit will disrupt their learning process, forcing them to abandon years of study and adapt to a new language with which they have no familiarity. This abrupt change is creating confusion and unnecessary stress for students who are already striving to manage their demanding academic schedules.

Introducing Sanskrit now is not just impractical given the lack of textbooks and resources, but it's unfair to the students who have been studying diligently in their previously chosen language courses. The three-language policy is putting an excessive and undue burden on students, many of whom are struggling to cope with these drastic and sudden shifts in their academic requirements.

It's time to prioritize our children's education and mental health. They deserve a stable and consistent learning environment where their educational foundation is not constantly shifting due to administrative decisions. We urge the CBSE to acknowledge the challenges faced by students and revoke the compulsory inclusion of Sanskrit in the three-language policy for Class 9.

Let's prevent our children's education from being disrupted further. Please sign this petition to ask the CBSE to reconsider its decision and provide our students with the educational stability and resources they deserve.
