The younger generation will also be able to purchase an economical, high quality camcorder that is reliable and is built to last for years, and is accessible to everyone. If things remain the same, the cost of digital cameras will continue to increase significantly as the only good options will be expensive smartphones and DSLR cameras.

The importance of immediate action to revive Sony's discontinued cameras ensures that they can be revived quickly because over time, the engineers that initally designed these cameras will retire and move on in life. Without them still working at Sony, it will be harder for Sony to get the cameras back into production. Knowledge is also lost as the hard drives storing the CAD files and schematics of the discontinued cameras can fail or be discarded in some way, causing the knowledge on how to produce the cameras to be lost forever.
