Once a thriving hub for Ringball and Netball, its current state, with long grass, broken fences, and partially functional spray lights, is heartbreaking. Owned by the community, this facility should represent the pride and vitality of Gezina, hosting large-scale regional and national tournaments. Yet, the disrepair it has fallen into is a shame.

Korfbal Park is more than just a sports venue; it's a place where youth and adults alike have gathered to engage in healthy competition, build relationships, and foster community spirit. It houses 16 courts and includes a bar and kiosk designed to serve participants and spectators alike, aiming to offer a comprehensive community experience. However, the neglect in maintenance has significantly impaired its function.

The non-functional spray lights affect games held during evenings when the weather is cooler and more manageable. Local sports teams and leagues struggle to hold events, impacting not only their development but also local tourism and economy. The overgrown grass is not just an inconvenience; it's a potential hazard for athletes who are at risk of injury, and the broken fences compromise the safety and security of the venue.

I am calling on the community, local government, and friends of Gezina to unite in restoring Korfbal Park to its former glory. Together, we can push for necessary maintenance and upgrades that are realistic and actionable:
