Revise Wissahickon's study hall format
Revise Wissahickon's study hall format
The Issue
As a student athlete with limited free time after school, my study hall needs to be as productive as possible. So far this school year, with limited work, I am already struggling with completing my introductory assignments in the auditorium. In the auditorium seating, not all seats have the pop-up desks for completing paper assignments, and I guarantee that once the school workload starts to pick up, the issue will be much more prevalent.
The shift from classrooms to the large, impersonal space of the auditorium has disrupted our ability to focus and manage our tasks effectively. Without adequate desks, students are forced to balance their notebooks on their laps, straining to keep up with their requirements. Moreover, the acoustics and distractions inherent in such a large venue make concentration almost impossible for many students.
Previously, study halls held in classroom settings allowed for a more controlled environment where students could concentrate and complete their work efficiently. The intimate atmosphere of a classroom setting promotes better focus, allows for easy access to resources, and even fosters collaboration among peers.
Reverting study hall to classrooms would not only enhance student productivity but also relieve the stress many of us feel trying to make the best of an unsuitable situation. This change could lead to improved academic performance across the board and ensure that study hall truly becomes a time for learning and advancement rather than a source of frustration.
Please help us in advocating for a more conducive learning environment by returning study halls to classrooms. Sign the petition to let school administrators know that this change is necessary for fostering a productive educational experience.
