Currently Howard University's Theatre Department requires students to reserve practice rooms in the Oddfellows building at least 72 hours in advanced. This policy is unrealistic and detrimental to student success, given that:

(a) most class assignments are given two days (or less) before their due date

(b) if a student books 72 hours in advanced and no longer needs their reservation, that room is taken and another student cannot use it

(c) student productions are forced to rehearse in hallways or off-campus, and

(d) for students with neurological disabilities that struggle with time management or forgetfulness, there is no grace given and they are left without proper practice space

This petition requests that the administration of the Department of Theatre Arts revises the policy, to meet the following needs:

• Allow students to reserve practice spaces in the same manner as Childer's Hall or Undergraduate Library (either an in-person sign in sheet or online form such as SignUpGenius)
• Eliminate the 72-hour reservation requirement, allowing students to reserve up until right before a reservation time
• Leave classrooms unlocked or allow students to request to have a room unlocked
