Revise the Income Requirement for UK Citizens Sponsoring Non-EU Spouses

Revise the Income Requirement for UK Citizens Sponsoring Non-EU Spouses
The Issue
The Government claim that it is only fair that people who wish their spouse to live here in the UK should support them. This is all very well for the millionaire Prime Minister and his Eaton attending mates. unfortunately most people don't have their advantages.
They claim people should support their spouse without Government help.
PEOPLE ALREADY DO!!!!!
When a spouse moves to the UK they are given a Biometric Residence Card which clearly states they are not entitled to Government funds. NOT ENTITLED TO GOVERNMENT FUNDS so obviously their partner and family support them. People will moan they use the NHS. Well they pay a fee to use this service which is increasing to over £1000 per year from 16th January 2024.
Now whether the person supports their spouse from their earnings or their legitimately paid benefits does not matter. They are supporting their spouses without any extra Government money being paid.
Please read my daughters story below and sign this petition, but note:
The Prime Minister and his right wing bullies are being economical with the truth when not mentioning that the spouses are already supported by their partner and family not his Government who are using this as a smoke screen to blind us all to their huge failure in stopping the boats.
My daughter, a hardworking British citizen, earns just over £20,000 annually. She dreams of building a life in this country with her lawfully married spouse who is eager to contribute to our society by working and paying taxes like everyone else. However, the current immigration rules are making it difficult for them.
As per the existing UK immigration laws, a minimum income threshold of £18,600 has been set for any British citizen or settled resident wishing to bring their non-European Economic Area (EEA) spouse or partner to live with them in the UK. This figure increases if they have children who are not British citizens or settled residents. This figure is high enough but to increase it to £37,700 is just ridiculous. A large proportion of the population do not earn anywhere near this amount and it particularly discriminates against the young and females amongst us.
This policy affects thousands of families across the country and disproportionately impacts women and people living outside London where wages tend to be lower. According to Migrants' Rights Network report in 2015, around 41% of people in employment earned less than this threshold.
We believe that family unity should not be determined by income alone but also consider other factors such as potential earnings of the non-EEA spouse and support from extended family members. We urge policymakers to review these regulations so that hardworking citizens like my daughter can live with their spouses without being burdened by unrealistic financial thresholds.
Please sign this petition urging UK government officials to revise these stringent income requirements that separate families rather than uniting them.
