Revise the Fair Labor Standards Act and Annually Raise the Federal Minimum Wage

Revise the Fair Labor Standards Act and Annually Raise the Federal Minimum Wage
The Issue
Every year, the cost of living increases due to inflation in the economy and Congressional decisions regarding the national debt ceiling. Regrettably, wage levels have not followed suit. Like many, I personally struggle to keep up with the growing expenses, all the while, our wages stays stagnant.
As U.S citizens, we are petitioning the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) and Congress to update and revise the Fair Labor Standards Act. Specifically, we are requesting an annual increase of the federal minimum wage rate, which has remained unchanged since 2009 at $7.25 per hour.
This request is not unreasonable - it is simply a demand to align wages with the current cost of living. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, consumer prices in the U.S. have increased by around 20% since 2009, while the federal minimum wage rate hasn't budged (Bureau of Labor Statistics). This creates a gap between earnings and expenses, making life increasingly difficult for minimum wage workers each year.
It is high time for the USDOL and Congress to make necessary adjustments to the Federal minimum wage, reflecting contemporary economic realities and ensuring fair compensation for all labors across the nation. Let us voice our concern for equality and fair living standards. Please, sign this petition and join our call for action.
